In    gene   transfer   of
   glyphosate resistance, a EPSP synthase gene from E. coli is fused to a
   promoter from the cauliflower mosaic virus.

   This  fusion  gene  is  then  transferred  to  a  Ti  plasmid, and the
   recombinant vector is inserted into an Agrobacterium host.

   Agrobacterium is used to infect cultured plant cells and integrate the
   fusion gene into a plant chromosome.
