Fusion proteins are extracted
   from the host cells and purified.

   Cyanogen   bromide  is  used  to  cut  the  insulin  chains  from  the
   b-galactosidase.

   The  A  and  B  chains  are purified and mixed to produce a functional
   insulin molecule.
